I despise the Yankees, but I'm not ignorant enough to say the players suck simply because I dislike the team they play for. I have nothing against the individual players, I just grew up in Mass hating the Yanks. Jeter is a HoF SS, plain and simple - get no argument from me.
And since when did the Yankees have a great pitching staff? Good yes, great - not even close. |

But they all had something didn't they. They piled up the numbers that count most in sports, the number of championships. |

 Sponsor | northpaw | Mar 2, 3:23am | | I've pitched with mediocre, consistent shortstops and also with a few show stoppers, and the momentary eye-rolling when a ball shoots up the middle that I think *might* have been playable doesn't begin to compare to the fist pumping, back slapping effect of a tremendous play. Giving the pitcher a huge confidence boost and demoralizing the other team - are there stats for that? |
